Barmer, Monday, 23 March 2020: With the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) global pandemic, Cairn Oil & Gas, Vedanta Ltd., India’s largest private oil and gas exploration and production company, has adopted stringent measures at its operation sites, to ensure a safe work environment for its employees, partners, all stakeholders, and communities.

At Cairn Oil & Gas, the health and safety of everyone who works with us is of paramount importance, and the company has ensured compliance with all guidelines from district, state, and central Government authorities to contain risk of exposure and infection. In response to the pandemic, Cairn Oil & Gas remains ready with all measures to respond within current site restrictions and has introduced additional safety procedures to ensure health and safety of personnel. Cairn is working closely with district administration, public health officials, and in close coordination with the Rajasthan state Government to support these measures.

Of the slew of situation and emergency response measures in place, key initiatives include:

• Enforcement of social distancing and critical hygiene measures, limited critical personnel, and work-from-home
• Deferment of all non-essential travel
• Regular infrared temperature-gun screening of all personnel at all work locations and installations
• Disinfection of all workplace surfaces a minimum of four times a day
• Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for all healthcare personnel including gloves, aprons, goggles, fluid-repellant surgical masks, face visors, and respirator masks
• Real-time monitoring and actions by Crisis Management and Business Continuity Teams

We are closely monitoring the situation and arrangements have been undertaken at war-footing at all sites for swift emergency response.”

In fact, the district administration, health department, Dhara Sansthan, and Cairn-Vedanta have jointly released a safety manual to continue to drive public awareness and preemptive action”, he added.

In addition to all business measures keeping people safety and “Only Safe Production” foremost, the Cairn Oil & Gas CSR team has marshalled all its healthcare resources, including its Mobile Healthcare Vans, to spread awareness about Covid19-related public health precautions, preventive healthcare advice, and kits among remotely located communities. Cairn Oil & Gas CSR teams along with its network of NGO partners and district healthcare workers are out there every day, to drive awareness about prevention, risk mitigation, and first-response measures among communities.
