Ravva block is in the shallow offshore area of Krishna Godavari Basin in Andhra Pradesh on the east coast of India. The production of hydrocarbons commenced in March 1994. Cairn holds a strong position in the block and has a strategy aimed at expanding the potential of the field and enhancing the further value of the asset.

The field has pioneered many operational firsts in India, such as the time-lapse (4D) seismic technology and using an Ocean Bottom Cable (OBC) seismic survey. Over the years, Ravva block has produced ~311 million barrels of crude oil, and 385 billion cubic feet of natural gas, representing close to 53% recovery till FY2023. The average production of the block during FY23 is 11,802 boepd.

Ravva block is one of the prime examples of how technology can play a central role in accessing new reserves. The field’s direct operating cost is one of the lowest amongst Cairn Oil & Gas peers.

A 225-acre onshore processing facility at Surasaniyanam processes natural gas and crude oil from the Ravva field. Currently, eight unmanned offshore platforms are operational. The Ravva onshore terminal operates as per the international environmental standard - ISO 14001 - and has the capacity to handle 70,000 barrels of oil per day (boepd), 95 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscfd) of natural gas, and 110,000 barrels of injection water per day. The terminal also has the capacity to store one million barrels of crude oil in the onshore facility and has a 10 MW captive power generation plant. The field has clocked 3.38 million LTI free man-hours till the end of FY2023.

The processing plant and offshore infrastructure are certified per ISO 14001 Environment Management Certification, ISO 45001 Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems Certification and ISO 50001 Energy Management System Certification. Ravva won National Safety Award (Mines), 217, 2019 & 2020 under the category Lowest Injury Frequency Rate per Lakh Manshifts (LIFR-M). Ravva also won “Greentech International EHS Award 2023”and CII Andhra Pradesh Industrial Safety excellence Award - 2022 for outstanding achievements in Health and Safety
